SDES #1 – Lacks Creek

Round #1 of the Super Duper Enduro Series was a great time this past weekend at Lacks Creek.  A solid and jolly turnout enjoyed wonderful weather as we struggled through the always arduous loop together. Trails were in loose and good condition. Fast times were posted by all and we got at least a couple all time fastest runs thanks to Steven Pearl who consistently laid down impressive stage times. There is shaping up a tight teenage battle in the top of the pack with Will Albertini and Denny Snyder duking it out stage by stage, this one will be too close to call until the last round I think. Ryan Reichlin was coming in hot and gave everybody something to chew on with his stage 1 time. Kira Rose impressed by riding many stages blind and holding down the ladies category with a very strong performance. Thanks to the brave shredders who came out today and kept the Día de los Muertos tradition alive. Things were fine when we showed up and suited up at 10:00 am, but upon beginning the ascent the clouds opened up and dropped heavy rain non-stop untill 2:00 pm. Runs were enjoyed despite the ever moistening conditions. I don’t recall ever riding down Tish Tang with so much standing water on track. Second run the puddles had swollen and the trail had become much more slippery. On the slick track with limited visibility it was the two DH bikes on scene that would set the pace. Their pilots paid their way pushing them up the road, and the dividends were apparent on the way down. Times that were logged:

Big thanks to all our friends, new and old, that came out this weekend. We had a wonderful break in the weather and were treated to classic Stomach Churn conditions, fast with just enough slip to get the gears grinding.  There were a few accounts of the event again living up to its name, but mostly folks enjoyed the fun course and good company.
